Compass Point is committed to strict privacy standards and the protection of any information gathered from visitors to the Compass Point Website. Compass Point has created this privacy statement as a demonstration of our firm commitment to the privacy of visitors. Mailing List

Compass Point maintains a mailing list which you can subscribe to from the home page at http://www.compasspoint-online.co.uk/ or when you order goods from us, or when you fill out any catalogue request forms on the site. We collect your email address and general demographic information. The information is collected via the input box on our home page and is stored on a non public database on our server. Email addresses are held on our database solely to be used for sending our newsletters and special offer information. The mailing list is used to send out information on special deals, offers, gear reviews and general outdoor sports information. We send out an email no more than once a week. The mailing list is held on our web server (computer), which is based in the UK.

Compass Point does not divulge your registration information to any third parties. The information is only used to mail Compass Point Updates and Newsletters. We do not send random and untargeted unsolicited e-mail. Mailing List members have the option to opt out of receiving mail from us by unsubscribing at any time. If you wish to unsubscribe, simply send an e-mail to rom@compasspoint-online.co.uk with the word ‘UNSUBSCRIBE’ in the subject line.

Every once in awhile, Compass Point may post a link to another Websites (i.e. news or events articles). Compass Point is not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of such Websites.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
